What does the name Jehovah stand for in the Bible?
In the Old Testament, the name Jehovah, translated from its contractions, stands for the I AM. Jehovah is the I AM throughout Scripture. At the burning bush in Exodus chapter 3, God told Moses to tell Israel that I AM had sent him.
Les explains that the term Jehovah in the Old Testament, when translated out of its contractions, stood for the I AM, and that Jehovah is the I AM in all of Scripture. He connects this to Exodus chapter 3 at the burning bush, where Moses asked what he should tell the children of Israel God's name was. God answered that Moses should tell them, “I AM, the great I AM, hath sent you.” Les also reviews Jesus' I AM statements in John, including “I AM the bread of life” in John 6:35.
