How are all the compound names of Jehovah related to the name Jehovah?

The compound names of Jehovah are intrinsic to God’s dealings with Israel and are all wrapped up in the one name Jehovah. He is everything to the nation of Israel. Names such as Jehovah-Repha, Jehovah-Nissi, Jehovah-Sidkenu, and Jehovah-Shammah reveal His healing, banner, righteousness, and presence.

Les teaches that these compound names are names of deity that were intrinsic with God’s dealing with Israel, not separate deities. Jehovah-Repha is the healer or protector from disease when Israel came out of Egypt. Jehovah-Nissi, our banner, arose from Israel’s first war with the Amalekites, when Moses held his hands up and Israel prevailed; it was Jehovah who won the battle. Jehovah-Sidkenu is translated Jehovah our righteousness. Jehovah-Shammah means “I am there,” and it goes into the future when Christ will rule in the kingdom on earth and be in their presence. All these names of Jehovah are wrapped up in that one name Jehovah, for He is everything to the nation of Israel.
