Will believers rule under Christ or with Christ?

Believers will rule and reign with Christ, not under Him. Because the Church is the Body of Christ and joint heirs with Him, believers are not His subjects as a king's subjects would be. Christ remains Head of the Body, and He will be King of Kings and Lord of Lords, yet believers share His reign.

Les teaches that Paul never refers to the Lord as the King of the Church. Christ is the Head of the Body, not our King in that sense, because a king rules over subjects, and believers are not Christ's subjects. Instead, believers are joint heirs with Him and are in a different position than a servant of a king. Les explains that Christ will still come as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, but believers will be ruling and reigning not under Him, but with Him. This fits the larger truth that the Church is the universal compilation of believers brought into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, in union with Him and joint heirs with Him.
