How does Christ relate to the Passover feast?
Christ is our Passover, corresponding to the Passover lamb whose blood protected Israel when the death angel passed over. The feast commemorates that deliverance, and the Passover aspect points to the protection given by the blood of the Lamb, though Passover and Atonement are distinct feast days.
Les explains that the final plague on Egypt was the death of the firstborn, which struck every house, including livestock. Israel had an out, but it depended on their faith: if they put the blood of the Passover lamb on the doorposts and stayed within the safety of their home, the death angel would pass over. This is the beginning of what the Jews still celebrate today in the Spring as Passover. Les makes the point that Passover and Atonement are two totally different Feast Days—Passover in the Spring and Atonement or Yom Kippur in the Fall. Christ, however, is our Passover, and the Passover aspect is the protection given by the blood of the Lamb. The atonement analogy of His work is covered separately.
