Who called Jesus the Lamb of God that takes away the world's sin?

John called Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The context states that when John saw Jesus coming, he called Him the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. This identifies Jesus as the sacrificial Passover Lamb.

Les explains that Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles, writing to the Corinthian church, says in I Corinthians 5:7, 'Purge out therefore the old leaven,' and notes that leaven always spoke of sin and evil. Paul declares, 'Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.' Les then points out that John, when he saw Jesus coming, called Him the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. He connects this to the Passover Lamb of Exodus 12, showing that Old Testament types and pictures are written for our learning, enhancing New Testament understanding.
