Who is the one who took on the sin of the world for us?
Christ is the one God made to be sin for us. The sinless Lamb of God, the Eternal, Sovereign Creator God, took on the sin of the world for us, so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Scripture presents Him as God’s provision for reconciliation.
Les teaches from verse 21 that God hath made Him, Christ, to be sin. He explains that Christ took on the sin of the world. God made Him sin for us, that precious, sinless Lamb of God, the Eternal, Sovereign Creator God, took on the sin of the world for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Earlier, Les also says Christ has already reconciled you unto Himself, and urges the hearer to believe it.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
