What happened to the soldiers when Jesus spoke at his arrest?

At Jesus’ arrest, when He spoke, the soldiers who came with Judas were all stricken backwards. They were knocked back simply by the power of Christ’s voice, and this display preceded His mock trial and Peter’s denial in Matthew 26.

Les explains that in Matthew 26, Judas betrays Jesus in verse 50, and a huge number of soldiers came with him to arrest Jesus. One of the other Gospel accounts makes it plain that when Jesus spoke, they were all stricken backwards by the power of Christ’s voice. Les then moves on through chapter 26 to Jesus’ mock trial and Peter’s denial, noting the cock crowing, and later looks back to chapter 27.
