What time of night was Jesus arrested?

The Gospel accounts indicate Jesus was arrested during the night, around midnight, possibly a little before. The arrest in the garden occurred before dawn, with the first sign of His arrest likely in the area of midnight. This nighttime timing aligns with how totalitarian governments typically arrest people.

Les explains that the human race hasn't changed, and totalitarian governments almost always choose nighttime to arrest their people—often two or three o'clock in the morning. He points out this is a mental and traumatic thing, because it's one thing to have someone knock on your door in daylight, but something else in the dark hours of midnight or early morning. In the same way, Jesus was arrested at night. Les says it was evidently right around midnight, maybe even a little before, because everything in His arrest and mock trial takes place before the early light of dawn. Les thinks the first sign of the arrest in the garden was probably in the area of midnight. He also notes Judas betrayed Him and led the soldiers, and that though Jesus was meek and compassionate, they brought at least a hundred soldiers to arrest Him.
