Why do Christians relate to Christ as their Head rather than as their King?
Christians relate to Christ as Head because Paul never alludes to Christ as King of the Church. As members of His Body, believers are joint heirs with Him and part of Him. This Head-and-Body relationship is far different from being under a king.
Les explains that the Kingdom was in the midst of Israel, but the nation for the most part rejected it and said, "away with him, crucify him." The crucified King, after burial and resurrection, went to Heaven, so now the Kingdom is in Heaven, because the Kingdom is where the King is. But Les stresses that Paul never alludes to Christ as the King of the Church. We are never to address Him as our King. He is the King, but He is not our King. Because as members of the Body, we are joint heirs with Him and part and parcel of Him. He is the Head, and we are the Body. That is a far different relationship than being under a King.
