Les Feldick Bible Study

From the high mountain, what could Jesus and Satan see?

From an exceeding high mountain, Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. Because Jerusalem sat at the center of the then-known world, they could envision the great empires of history, past and even future, which Satan offered if Jesus would worship him.

Les teaches that the devil took Jesus up into an exceeding high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world. Jerusalem was geographically near the center of the planet, and at the time of Christ it was the center of the then-known world. The Roman Empire reached west to Great Britain, east to India, and included North Africa and Egypt. From that high vantage point, both spiritual beings and Christ could envision all the great empires that had ever existed, and Les thinks even into the future. Satan then said if Jesus would fall down and worship him, He could have all of it. Les also makes the point that Satan did have the power to give those kingdoms, because since Adam fell, Satan is the god of this world.
