Why do some people think the current peace treaty is the Antichrist's covenant?
Some identify the signed Israel-Palestinian treaty as the covenant because they link it to Daniel 9:25, "and he shall confirm," expecting the Antichrist to sign a seven-year treaty with Israel. The teacher cautions it may or may not be, calling it merely an agreement to agree or disagree.
Les explains that the final seven-year period, Daniel's 70th week, opens with the Antichrist's appearance, and he will sign a seven-year treaty with Israel. Because a treaty was signed between Israel and the Palestinians, some people connect it to Daniel 9:25, "and he shall confirm." Les says that may or may not be; he views that treaty as merely an agreement to agree or disagree and doubts it will hold much water. He still expects the Antichrist to be a flesh-and-blood man, like Judas, used by Satan, a charismatic political manipulator who will eventually make the Middle East peace treaty with Israel.
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
