Is the recently signed peace treaty the covenant the Antichrist will confirm?
No, the recently signed treaty should not be equated with the covenant the Antichrist will confirm. It is described as merely an agreement to agree or disagree, and it is doubted that it will hold water for long. Daniel 9:25 is cited, but whether this treaty fulfills it remains uncertain; the Antichrist will later make a peace treaty with Israel.
Les teaches that the peace treaty just signed is not necessarily the covenant of Daniel 9:25. He notes that some people connect it to Daniel 9:25 where it says, “and he shall confirm,” but says that may or may not be. He calls the signed treaty nothing but an agreement to agree or disagree and doubts it will hold much water for very long. Regardless, Les explains that the Antichrist will come on the scene as an ordinary human being, born of woman, flesh and blood, much like Judas, used by Satan to fulfill satanic aspirations. He will be a tremendous political manipulator and a charismatic individual, able to walk into summit meetings and command attention. Eventually he will gain the power of making a peace treaty with Israel in the Middle East. By the time he returns to his headquarters, which Les feels will be somewhere in Europe, other things will be taking place at the opening days of the seven years. The two witnesses will also come to the streets of Jerusalem and begin the witness of Jehovah God to Israel, and the Antichrist will have given permission to build the temple.
