What did Paul say Christ will do with our weak mortal body?
Paul writes that Christ will change our vile body—the one prone to sickness, death, and corruption—and fashion it like unto His glorious, post-resurrection body. This change is according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself, making believers like Him.
Les teaches from Philippians chapter 3, verse 20, that Paul writes to the believer about our citizenship being in heaven. From there we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our vile body. Les explains that this vile body is the one prone to sickness and death and corruption. Christ will change it so it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body—not the body of humiliation before the cross, but His post-resurrection body. Les points out that Christ was glorified at resurrection, after His death, burial, and resurrection, attaining again the glory He had, as seen in John chapter 17 in the high priestly prayer. This change happens according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself. Les also directs attention to Luke 24 and Christ’s post-resurrection experience, saying that studying the 40 days of Christ’s post-resurrection life helps us understand how we will operate in our new resurrected body, because we are going to be like Him.
