Why does God protect and insulate the remnant of Israel?

God protects and insulates the escaping remnant of Israel because of His mercy and His covenant promises. He preserves them supernaturally in the mountains during the final three and a half years, shielding them from the horrible events, until Christ returns and they see Him coming in the clouds of glory.

Les teaches that this is the escaping remnant of Israel, not the whole nation but a percentage. They flee Judea to the mountains southeast of Jerusalem, where God protects them for the last three and a half years. Les compares this to Israel in the desert of Sinai for forty years, saying God will insulate them from all the horrible events of this final three and a half years. Although they go out in unbelief so far as Christ as the Messiah and King is concerned, they will give glory to God as they see the event. God, in His mercy and in His covenant promises, keeps this remnant insulated until He returns, and then they will see Him coming in the clouds of glory.
