How does God compensate our work in this life in the coming kingdom?
God compensates labor in this life by rewarding His people in the coming kingdom with activity and responsibility. Rather than idle heavenly rest, believers will receive tremendous responsibility and meaningful work when He establishes His kingdom on earth, and they will reign with Christ for a thousand years.
Les explains that people are made for activity. Using the vacation illustration, he notes most people enjoy rest for about two weeks, then want to get back to work and be active again. He teaches that this desire carries over into the kingdom: believers will not sit on a cloud and strum a harp with nothing to do. Instead, God will give tremendous responsibility and activity, which is what people would enjoy most; otherwise it would not be heaven. The rewards God gives for laboring in this life will be compensated then with activity and responsibility when He sets up His kingdom on earth. In Revelation 20:4, thrones are seen, judgment means rule, and the martyrs lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
