Will Christians receive the rewards for their labor in this life?
No, not necessarily in this life. Believers may go to the grave poor, with little of this world's goods. God has not promised that believers will drive Cadillacs or live in mansions. But He is keeping a record of earthly activity, and one day they will cash in on rewards in glory. Paul teaches running the race for reward.
Les explains that our labor in the Lord is not in vain, yet we may not reap the rewards of that labor in this life. We may go to the grave poor as church mice, with not very much of this world's goods. But he says not to let that disturb us, because God has not promised that believers will drive Cadillacs or live in mansions. Instead, God has promised that He is keeping a record of our earthly activity, and one day we will cash in on the rewards in glory. Paul always taught that we are to run the race for reward.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
