What is the reward for laboring for God in this life?

The reward for laboring for God in this life is compensated in the coming kingdom with activity and responsibility. Instead of idle bliss, God assigns tremendous responsibility and meaningful work, and the faithful reign with Christ for a thousand years, participating in His rule over the earth.

Les explains that most people like to be active and that this desire carries over into the kingdom. He says believers will not sit on a cloud strumming a harp with nothing to do; instead, God will give them a tremendous amount of responsibility and activity, which is what they would enjoy most—otherwise it wouldn't be heaven. Les connects this to Revelation 20, where thrones are set and judgment (meaning rule) is given to them, and the martyrs and faithful live and reign with Christ a thousand years. So the reward for laboring in this life is compensated then with activity and responsibility when He sets up His kingdom on the earth.
