What is our role compared to God as believers who work for reward?
Believers are nothing but God's little worker bees under His sovereign rule. Salvation is not by works but by grace through faith plus nothing; after entering salvation, God expects believers to work for reward—to enhance His work, enhance the Kingdom, and bring honor and glory to His Name.
Les explains that most of Christendom has the idea that you work to attain salvation, but you work absolutely not at all for salvation. It is all of grace by faith plus nothing. However, once a person has entered into that glorious salvation experience, God expects believers to work for reward. The purpose of working is to enhance His work, to enhance the Kingdom, and to bring honor and glory to His Name. God is still the Sovereign God, and believers are still nothing but His little worker bees. Paul uses the analogy of the Olympics in 1 Corinthians 9:24: people run in a race, but one receives the prize. As believers working in this building process, they are to run that they may obtain—not salvation, which they already attained by faith.
