What does Scripture say the wealthy do to God's people?
Scripture makes plain that the world's merchants and money men, as they generate wealth, have come down on God's people. They are not concerned about the poor. Millions, including believers martyred in the Dark Ages, lost their lives at the discretion of those who could have controlled it.
Les explains that the merchants and money men of this world are not concerned about the welfare of the poor individual on the street; they are concerned about where they can generate wealth. He points out that the Scriptures make it plain that as they generated all this wealth, they also came down for the most part on God's people. He cites millions who lost their lives: fifty million in World War II, fifty million during the seventy years the Communists ran Russia, and fifty million believers martyred during the Dark Ages. Les says we are not talking thousands but millions who lost their lives at the discretion of people who could have controlled it. He also notes that all events associated with Christ's Second Coming and His return to earth are cataclysmic and judgmental, bringing down everything that smacks of materialism, technology, and man's efforts. He identifies Satan as the god of this world system behind all of this.
