What were the days before the flood like in Noah's time?

The days before the flood were marked by ordinary activities—eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage—alongside corruption and violence. People were working, building, and intensely occupied with normal life, yet they ignored the open ark and headed for doom. Only Noah’s family entered and escaped God’s wrath.

Les explains that just as it was in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. Genesis shows the earth was corrupt and filled with violence, but the people were also doing all the activity of normal business and living: working, building, marrying, and giving in marriage. There was nothing wrong with those things in themselves, but they were under such intense activity, along with corruption and murder, that they were heading for their doom. Even while the ark was being built, and after it was finished, God left the gangplank down and the door open for seven days. Those wrapped up in the things of their world could have stepped in, escaped the flood, escaped God’s wrath, and enjoyed salvation, but none took it except Noah’s family. Les compares this to today, when the world is so busy and almost at the same place.
