What did Satan offer Jesus if he would worship him?
Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world, claiming they were his to give. His condition was that Jesus fall down and worship him. Satan apparently did not comprehend that Christ would one day possess those kingdoms, obliterate them, and establish His own glorious, absolute kingdom.
Les teaches that Satan showed Jesus the empires and said, “All these kingdoms, they’re mine. I’ll give them to you,” but only on the condition that Jesus fall down and worship him. At that point Satan did not understand that Christ was going to have those kingdoms; they will be His, and He will one day obliterate them and set up His own glorious kingdom. Satan is the god of this world and is in control, yet he remains under the sovereign God and is held in check. When Christ sets up His kingdom, His power will be absolute, total, and glorious.
