When did Satan rebel against God?

Satan rebelled against God's authority before Genesis 1-2, during the interval prior to the creation account. At that time he also drew a third of the angelic host with him in rebellion. Scripture symbolically depicts this as the dragon's tail drawing a third of the stars of heaven.

Les explains that the great red dragon in Revelation 12 symbolizes Satan. Verse 4 says his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, which Les identifies as the angels. This rebellion occurred clear back before Genesis 1-2, in that interval, when Satan rebelled against the authority of God and evidently took a third of the angelic host with him. The dragon then stood before the woman to devour her child, but the child was caught up to God and His throne, a reference to the Ascension.
