Does the remnant flee to the mountains in faith or in unbelief?
The remnant flees to the mountains in unbelief, not faith. Though they are under God's protection and give glory to the God of heaven, they still do not recognize Jesus as the Christ. They remain blinded and religious, practicing temple worship, so their flight occurs while still in unbelief.
Les teaches that this remnant is under the thumb and protection of Almighty God, yet as they flee to the mountains they are still in unbelief. He points out that a religious Jew today can give glory to God and elevate the God of Abraham without recognizing the Christ. Even after three and a half years of temple worship, they have not recognized Jesus as the Christ. So their flight is under God's sovereign providence, but their faith in Christ has not yet come.
