Who makes up the remnant that flees Jerusalem during the tribulation?

The escaping remnant consists of Jews in the Jerusalem area—a mixed cross-section of society including older men, working-age men, and young mothers—who flee when they realize their trusted treaty partner is their mortal enemy. This group goes to a wilderness place where the triune God protects and feeds them.

Les explains that at the midpoint of the Tribulation, Jews in the area of Jerusalem suddenly realize that the one they thought they could trust—who had signed a treaty three and a half years earlier—turns out to be their mortal enemy. They congregate and make their flight out of Jerusalem. He calls them a mixed remnant, an escaping remnant of men, older men, working-age men, young mothers, and what have you, a cross-section of society. This escaping group of Jews is referred to in Revelation chapter 12, going to their place in the wilderness where the triune God protects and feeds them.
