What will Israel think about the Antichrist at the start of the tribulation?

At the beginning of the seven-year tribulation, Israel will be deceived into almost thinking the Antichrist is the Messiah. Under his supposed protection, they will restart temple worship and continue for three and a half years, until he stops sacrifice and oblation at the midpoint.

Les explains from Daniel 9:27 that the covenant with Israel starts the final seven years, a time when God's time clock resumes after the church age. In order for sacrifice and oblation to stop at the midpoint, temple worship must first restart. Israel will worship under the supposed protection of the Antichrist for three and a half years. During the opening days of the tribulation, Israel will almost think that he was indeed the Messiah, but then he moves in and makes the temple and its worship desolate until the end.

Daniel 9:27

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
