What do the Israelites initially think about the Antichrist in the tribulation?

During the opening days of the seven-year tribulation, Israel will worship under the Antichrist's supposed protection and will almost think he is the Messiah. They initially accept him as their promised deliverer, but at the midpoint he stops sacrifice and oblation, revealing his true abominable nature.

Les explains that Daniel 9:27 is the triggering mechanism for the final seven years. The Antichrist makes a covenant with Israel for seven years. In the first three and a half years, Israel restarts temple worship and operates under his supposed protection. During those opening days, Israel almost thinks he is the Messiah. But at the midpoint, he causes sacrifice and oblation to stop, moves in, and makes the temple desolate until the end, revealing his abominations.

Daniel 9:27

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
