How far into the tribulation does Revelation 13:5 take us?

Revelation 13:5 brings the reader to the midpoint of the seven-year tribulation. The Antichrist appears at the beginning, then is given power to continue for three-and-a-half years, that is, 42 months. This verse therefore carries the narrative to the exact middle, after which he continues another three-and-a-half years.

Les explains that the entire seven-year period is what Revelation deals with, and he stresses knowing what happens at the beginning, middle, and end. Revelation 13:5 shows the Antichrist made his appearance at the beginning of the seven years, and then power was given him to continue. The question is how long—three-and-a-half years, 42 months—so this verse brings us to the midpoint of the tribulation. From there he is given power to continue on for another three-and-a-half years. The earlier context also ties the midpoint to the middle of the week, when sacrifice and oblation cease and abominations bring desolation until the end.

Revelation 13:5

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
