What happens in Revelation 11:13 at the midpoint of the tribulation?

At the midpoint of the tribulation, Revelation 11:13 records a great earthquake in the same hour. A tenth part of the city fell, seven thousand men were slain, and the remnant gave glory to the God of heaven. The remnant are Jews fleeing Jerusalem at that midpoint.

Les explains that during the seven-year tribulation there will be tremendous physical upheaval, much like the Flood—earthquakes, volcanoes, tidal waves—and the old earth comes under all of it. At the very midpoint, in the same hour, Revelation 11:13 says a great earthquake occurs: the tenth part of the city falls, seven thousand men are slain, and the remnant gives glory to the God of heaven. Les identifies this remnant as Jews fleeing out of Jerusalem at the midpoint, as Jesus warned. He also teaches that many things happen at that midpoint: the two witnesses are killed, lie in the street three days, then are resurrected and taken up for the world to see; the Antichrist moves his headquarters, probably from Western Europe, into the temple in Jerusalem, defiles it, and sets up his throne and government; and Satan is cast out of heaven for the last time.

Revelation 11:13

And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
