What happened to Israel and Jerusalem during the Medo-Persian expansion?
As the Medo-Persian empire expanded, it enveloped the land of Israel and took the city of Jerusalem down into Egypt. The ram pushed westward, northward, and southward, and no other empire could stand before it or deliver out of its hand.
Les explains that the Medes and Persians are pictured as the two horns, meaning two kings, the father and the son. As they began to expand their empire, this was history and it all happened. They expanded outward and enveloped the land of Israel, and they took the city of Jerusalem down into Egypt. Daniel saw the ram pushing westward, northward, and southward, showing the expansion of the empire, so that no beasts or other empires could stand before him, and none could deliver out of his hand. He did according to his will and did great.
