Les Feldick Bible Study

Why does Les teach prophecy?

The teacher spends much time in prophecy because 2 Peter 1:19 calls it a more sure word of prophecy. Peter says prophecy confirms and proves the truth more than even the Mount of Transfiguration experience, so prophecy is taught on the basis of Scripture, not merely for sensation or excitement.

Les explains that he does not teach prophecy simply because it is sensational or exciting, although it is. His reason is grounded in Scripture, especially 2 Peter 1:19, where Peter says, "We have also a more sure word of prophecy." Peter had just referred to the Mount of Transfiguration, when Christ received honor and glory from God the Father and the voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Peter, James, and John heard that voice on the Holy Mount and were struck with awe. Yet Peter says prophecy is even more sure, proving and confirming these things. Therefore Les spends much time in prophecy on the basis of these verses.
