Why does Les teach Bible prophecy?
Bible prophecy is taught to show beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Bible is the Word of God. No other book written under heaven makes such prophetic statements hundreds or thousands of years in advance, and they all come true. The same God who fulfilled the first ninety percent will finish the last ten percent.
Les explains that the reason for teaching prophecy is to show beyond a shadow of a doubt that this book is the Word of God. He contrasts the Bible with the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and anything else people claim as their guideline for doctrine, noting that no other book written under heaven makes prophetic statements like the Bible does. These prophecies were given hundreds, yes, thousands, of years before they happen, yet they all come true, and what has not come true will come true. If prophecy has been fulfilled to the last jot and tittle, as much of the Old Testament already has been, then there is no reason to doubt the rest, because the same God who fulfilled the first ninety percent of prophecy will finish the last ten percent. Les also notes they like to spend much time in prayer, and in this particular case they have been coming up through the Old Testament. He then returns to Daniel, chapter 8, which they skipped, reminding listeners that Daniel is in captivity under the Babylonian empire.
