What three prerequisites did the kinsman-redeemer need to meet to pay off the mortgage?

The kinsman-redeemer needed three prerequisites to pay off the mortgage: first, he had to have the funds and be able; second, he had to be the next of kin, not a stranger; third, he had to be willing to help. Meeting all three allowed him to pay.

Les explains that the rich uncle had three prerequisites for bailing the young man out. Number one, he had to have the funds—he had to be able. Number two, he had to be the next of kin; a stranger couldn't do it. Number three, he had to be willing, because nobody has to do anything if they don't want to. If the uncle didn't like the nephew, he could refuse, but if he had the funds, wanted to, and was the next of kin, he could pay off the mortgage. Les then applies this picture to Jesus coming before God the Father, asking who can pay this mortgage, and points to the Lamb in the midst of the throne, the four living creatures, and the elders.
