What happens to the Gentile empires and what does God the Son set up afterward?
God the Son returns to earth and smites the Gentile empires that have been in human history for 2,600 years. He destroys them, and they disappear from view. Afterward He sets up His kingdom, an eternal dominion that shall not pass away or be destroyed, continuing into the new heaven and new earth.
Les explains that God the Son comes before the Ancient of Days, God the Father, and is given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. This occurs as He is about to return to earth and smite the Gentile empires that have been on human history for 2,600 years. He is going to come and destroy them; they will disappear from view. Then He sets up His kingdom, a dominion that shall not pass away—it is eternal. Les notes it will be interrupted again when Satan is released for a little while, but then comes the new heaven and the new earth, and the kingdom continues on into eternity. His kingdom is that which shall not be destroyed; there He has His rule and reign.
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
