Why is the Son brought before the Ancient of Days in Daniel 7?
He is brought before the Ancient of Days, God the Father, so that He may receive dominion, glory, and a kingdom. This takes place as God the Son is about to return to earth, smite the Gentile empires that have dominated history for 2,600 years, and establish an eternal kingdom that shall not be destroyed.
Les explains that Daniel 7 pictures God the Father sitting on the throne while God the Son comes before Him and is brought before the Ancient of Days. At that point the Son is given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. This is the Son coming before the Father as He is about to return to earth and smite the Gentile empires that have been in human history for 2,600 years. He will destroy them, they disappear from view, and He sets up His kingdom—a dominion that shall not pass away, an eternal kingdom. Les notes it will be interrupted when Satan is released for a little while, but then comes the new heaven and the new earth, and the kingdom continues into eternity. His kingdom is that which shall not be destroyed, for He has His rule and reign.
