What exact details did Jesus predict about his suffering, death, and resurrection in Luke 18:32-33?
Jesus predicted He would be delivered to the Gentiles, mocked, spitefully entreated, and spitted on; they would scourge Him and put Him to death, and the third day He would rise again. He stated these things as fulfillment of what the prophets wrote concerning the Son of Man.
Les teaches that in Luke 18:31 Jesus took the Twelve and said they were going up to Jerusalem, and all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man would be accomplished. Les explains that everything about to take place—His suffering, death, resurrection, ascension, and coming again—had already been foretold, and Psalms is full of it, along with Isaiah and others. Then in verses 32-33 Jesus specified He would be delivered to the Gentiles, the Romans, mocked, spitefully entreated, and spitted on, and that they—Gentiles as well as Jews—would scourge Him, put Him to death, and the third day He would rise again. Les points out this was plain language, yet the Twelve understood none of it, not a word.
For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
