What did Jesus plainly predict would happen to him before his resurrection?
Jesus plainly predicted that the Son of Man would be delivered unto the Gentiles, mocked, spitefully entreated, spit upon, scourged, and put to death, and that He would rise again the third day. He also said all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man would be accomplished.
Les teaches that in Luke 18:31-33, near the end of His earthly ministry and shortly before going up to Jerusalem, Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them plainly that the Son of Man would be delivered to the Gentiles, mocked, spitefully entreated, spit on, scourged, put to death, and rise again the third day. Les points out that everything written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man had to be fulfilled. Yet the next verse says the Twelve understood none of these things; the saying was hidden from them. Les explains this shows God's prerogative to keep things secret and reveal them at the right time.
Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
