Where was Jesus when He predicted His death and resurrection in Luke 18?

Jesus was in northern Israel, at the headwaters of the Jordan River, with the twelve. It was the end of His three years of earthly ministry, and He was about to go down to Jerusalem for the final days before His crucifixion, where He predicted His death and resurrection.

Les explains that Luke 18:31 begins this prediction at the end of the three years of Jesus' earthly ministry. The setting is northern Israel, at the headwaters of the Jordan River, and they are about to go back down to Jerusalem for the final days before His crucifixion. Jesus took the twelve and told them all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of man would be accomplished: He would be delivered to the Gentiles, mocked, spitefully entreated, spat on, scourged, put to death, and rise again the third day. Les notes that although they heard Him, they understood none of these things, because God hid it from them, as it was not yet time for them to know.

Luke 18:31

Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

More Questions

What did Jesus tell the twelve in Luke 18:31-33 before the crucifixion?

In Luke 18, just days before the crucifixion, Jesus took the twelve aside and plainly told them that he would be delivered to the Gentiles, mocked, scourged, killed, and raised on the third day.

Did Jesus know in advance that He was going to die and be raised?

Jesus' death and resurrection were still only prophecy at that point, and He knew what was going to happen because He knew the end from the beginning.
