Do you need a seminary degree to interpret Scripture correctly?

No seminary degree is needed to interpret Scripture correctly. Scripture itself interprets for us; the Book can interpret itself. People often think only seminary-trained individuals can interpret, but that is not required. The proper approach is to let the book interpret itself, rather than relying on formal theological training.

Les teaches that Scripture always interprets for us, so you do not have to go to seminary to learn how to interpret Scripture. Many people mistakenly think only seminary-trained people can interpret, but the principle is to let the Book interpret itself. In Daniel chapter 2, Daniel is about to interpret the matter, and Les uses that setting to make this point. He also recalls his son being ridiculed in a university Sunday school class for speaking of a political kingdom, and Les said when people are blind, it is hard to open their eyes.
