Did Paul go to seminary, and how did he get the wisdom for his letters?
Paul did not attend seminary. The wisdom for his letters was not acquired through formal schooling but was given by revelation. Scripture says Paul wrote according to the wisdom given unto him, and that wisdom is found in his epistles, Romans through Hebrews, as he spoke of salvation.
Les explains that Peter calls Paul “our beloved brother Paul, also according to the wisdom acquired,” then asks whether Paul went to seminary. The answer is no. Les says Paul’s wisdom was given by revelation, and that the wisdom given unto him he wrote in his epistles. Les identifies those epistles as Romans through Hebrews, the heart of the New Testament. Peter acknowledges some things in them are hard to be understood; thirty years later Peter still had problems, but he had to agree Paul was on the right track. Les says Peter’s difficulty came from being steeped in Judaism and legalism, which is still hard for people today as they come out from under legalism and step into the glory of God’s grace.
