What were the different parts of Nebuchadnezzar's dream image made of?
The image's head was fine gold, its chest and arms silver, its belly or abdomen brass, its two legs iron, and its feet a mixture of iron and clay. Daniel explained these parts as he interpreted the dream. This was the great image.
Les explains that in Daniel chapter 2, beginning at verse 31, Daniel recovers and interprets Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Daniel says, 'You saw a great image' whose brightness was excellent and whose form was terrible, frightening and terrifying, beyond human understanding. Daniel then describes the image: the head was of fine gold; the breast or chest area and arms were of silver; the belly or abdomen area was of brass; the two legs were of iron; and the feet were a mixture, part iron and part clay. Les notes that translations may use different words, but the sequence is clear. He used to try to draw the image but was ashamed of his artistry, so now he puts the words up so listeners can draw their own picture of the image, which might be a big robot like out of Star Wars or out of some comic strip.
