What did God promise Joshua about his enemies and God's presence?
God promised Joshua that no man would be able to stand before him all the days of his life. As He was with Moses, He would be with Joshua; He would not fail him nor forsake him. This assured Joshua of divine presence and victory over his enemies.
Les explains that in Joshua, verse 4, God repeats the land promise and assures Joshua that no man will be able to stand before him all the days of his life. God's presence with Moses would continue with Joshua; He would not fail nor forsake him. Les also notes that although the Old Testament was addressed to the Jew, believers can take comfort that God says the same thing to them. The context shows the land extends from the wilderness and Lebanon to the Euphrates and the Mediterranean.
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
