What would happen to Israel if they disobeyed God?
If Israel disobeyed Jehovah and turned their back on Him, God's curses would befall the nation. According to Deuteronomy 28, He would rejoice over them to destroy them and bring them to nothing; they would be plucked from the land and scattered among all people.
Les explains from Deuteronomy 28 that God placed before the Israelites conditions of blessings or curses. If they were obedient, He would bless them every which way, but if they turned their back on Jehovah and became disobedient, all the curses listed would befall the nation of Israel. In verse 63, God says He would rejoice over them to destroy them and bring them to naught, or nothing, and they would be plucked from off the land they were going to possess. Verse 64 adds that the Lord would scatter them among all people. This was spoken while they were still on the plains of Moab, east of the Jordan River and Jericho, in the final days of Moses' life, as he passed this on to the nation before they went into Canaan.
