What happened when Solomon dedicated the temple that showed God's honor for him?

When Solomon dedicated the temple he had built, God so honored him that the Shekinah glory came into the picture as he stood to dedicate it. That glory had been gone from Israel, and its return showed God's approval of Solomon.

Les explains that when Solomon dedicated the new temple he had built—or at least had been the architecture and master builder of—God so honored him that as he stood there to dedicate the temple, the Shekinah glory again came into the picture. Les notes that this glory had been gone from Israel, and that this showed how God felt about Solomon. Yet Les also points out that by the end of his life Solomon was guilty of offering little Jewish babies to the fires of the god of Moloch, showing the kind of temptation the average Israelite faced and that is no different for us today.
