What happened when Solomon's temple was dedicated?
The presence of God in the Shekinah glory came down into the Jerusalem temple and dwelt in that dwelling place. This foreshadowed the age of grace, when the Holy Spirit immediately indwells each believer, making the body a temple and dwelling place of God.
Les explains that when Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem as the place where God would dwell, and the temple was complete and dedicated, the presence of God in the Shekinah glory came right down into that temple, and God's presence dwelt there. He presents this as a foreview of the age of grace: when God saves an individual, that person immediately becomes a temple, a dwelling place, and just as the Shekinah glory came into Solomon's temple, the Holy Spirit comes into us. Les ties this to the believer's body being the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit, who comes the moment one believes, so God knows every thought, every place, and everything done because He is present.
