Why are so many people brainwashed by false teaching?
Many people are brainwashed by false teaching because they are overwhelmed by it from every direction and fail to recognize that much of what they hear does not come from the Book. False teachers, pictured by Balaam, spout their own ideas, and listeners absorb them without realizing the error.
Les teaches that Balaam is the perfect picture and example of false teachers. He explains that we must be aware of false teaching today because we are literally being overwhelmed by it from every direction. People are out spouting off about what they think the Word says, and too many people are simply being brainwashed without realizing that a lot of this stuff does not come from the Book. That is why he stops to study Balaam.
