How can false teachers sound so knowledgeable and still be wrong?
False teachers can appear polished, knowledgeable, and confident, even like Apollos, possessing answers that make others feel uneducated. Yet their message is false, and they secretly introduce error to lead people astray; the gullible fail to discern the difference.
Les explains that these men may sound as though they have all the answers, may be polished, may be like Apollos, and may have a knowledge that makes him look like just an uneducated cowman. Nevertheless, they are false teachers leading people astray. In Galatians, Paul shows they use the same modus operandi: false teachers are brought in without the congregation knowing who they are, coming privately or secretly to spy out the liberty believers have—freedom from the demands of the Mosaic Law. The gullible cannot see the difference.
