Why are many good people going to be lost?

Many good people will be lost because they have not trusted what God has done for salvation. They may be morally good, even better than others, but they still rely on being good enough. Scripture says all have sinned and fallen short, and nothing done can get anyone into heaven.

Les explains that Romans chapter 3 presents the first step of faith on the Roman road to salvation: a person must realize they are a sinner. Many people assume they are good enough, and Les acknowledges there are many good people, better than he could ever hope to be, but they are going to be lost. The reason is that they have not trusted what God has done. The only thing believers can claim is not their own works; nothing can be done to get anyone into heaven. Instead, we must rest on the fact that we are sinners, fallen short, sons of Adam. That is the first step of faith. Then verse 24 declares that even though God condemns us as sinners, we can be justified freely, with no strings attached.
