Are good people who never see their need for salvation headed for eternal doom?

Yes. Those who are morally good but never recognize their need of salvation are headed for eternal doom, just as surely as the Mafia man, murderer, or Death Row inmate. The root issue is unbelief that God has said they are sinners; acknowledging that is the first step.

Les explains that good people who never see their need of salvation are headed for eternal doom just as much as the man in the Mafia, the murderer on Skid Row, those on Death Row, or the inhabitant of Skid Row. Their problem is that they do not believe God has said they are sinners, and recognizing that must be the first step. Les also reviews the circles from Genesis: Adam was created with a body, a soul, and a spirit. His soul—mind, will, and emotion—was in perfect agreement with the Creator, and his spirit had fellowship with God. When Adam sinned, his whole personality became a sin nature, bent to sinning. Communication with God became dormant, not annihilated; the spark is still there but dead, like a car battery left with its lights on overnight.
