What does Zechariah 12:10 say will happen when Israel sees Christ at his second coming?
Zechariah 12:10 says that when Israel looks on Christ at His second coming, God will pour out on the house of David and Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on the One they pierced, recognize Him as the One they crucified, and mourn for Him, mourning like tears of reunion.
Les explains that Christ came to His people the first time, was rejected, and returned to glory like an exiled king, but He promised, "I'm coming back." At His second appearing, Israel's response changes. Les takes us to Zechariah 12:10, where God says He will pour upon the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplication. They shall look upon the One they pierced—the One they had crucified—and they shall mourn for Him. Les compares that mourning to tears of reunion, and he reminds listeners of how Joseph and Moses were treated the second time.
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
