What will the remnant of Israel recognize when they see the pierced Messiah in Zechariah 12:10?

According to Zechariah 12:10, the remnant of Israel will look on the Messiah whom they pierced and recognize that the coming manifestation of Christ is the One crucified on the Roman cross. Their spiritual eyes will be opened, and this remnant will experience the new birth required to enter the kingdom.

Les explains from Zechariah 12:10 that God will pour upon the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplications. This concerns the house of David, not Gentiles. When they see or look upon the One they pierced—a reference to His crucifixion—their physical eyes and spiritual eyes will be opened. They will recognize that the coming manifestation of Christ, the Messiah, is the One who died on that Roman cross. Then in Zechariah 13:6, this remnant of Israel asks about wounds in His hands, and He answers, “Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.” Les teaches that this remnant will experience the new birth Nicodemus was told he had to have in order to enter the kingdom.

Zechariah 12:10

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
